There’s no shortage of hotels in New York. The list of luxury and boutique hotels is long! We’ve already told you about one of our favorite spots: the Crosby Street Hotel, one of the Firmdale hotels whose atmosphere and decor we love. Today, we’re introducing you to one of Manhattan’s hidden gems, with its incredible penthouses: The Greenwich Hotel !

Robert De Niro’s hotel, located in New York’s TriBeCa neighborhood, has established itself as one of the Big Apple’s leading design destinations. So, of course, as in every hotel, there’s a signature suite or room—only here, it’s not a room, but a penthouse: the famous TriBeCa Penthouse ! Created by designer Axel Vervoordt and Japanese architect Tatsuro Miki, this apartment is one of our absolute favorites.

Based on aesthetics Wabi, he combines stone and wood to create a stunning, one-of-a-kind interior. The Wabi is an aesthetic concept that emphasizes simplicity, nature, and asymmetry: the result is stunning—even though the materials are simple, the overall design is perfectly balanced. The terrace is a true private garden, and the apartment offers every amenity you could dream of. Be warned, however: the ultra-luxury of this penthouse comes at a price exceeding $10,000 per night.

But the Greenwich Hotel offers more affordable options with its rooms and suites. We love the suites with fireplaces, which provide cozy comfort, and the wide range of services offered by the hotel. We’re also big fans of the lounge and the courtyard, which welcome you with a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by lush greenery.

It’s no longer just the restaurant everyone in Manhattan knows about: Locanda Verde has been open since 2009 and has inspired many others. The menu features Italian cuisine with a deliberately urban twist—delicious and creative. In short, the place is always packed, but as a hotel guest, you’ll have an easier time booking a table. And if you need to unwind before dinner, head to the Shibui Spa for an incredibly relaxing massage. The Greenwich Hotel also has a beautiful pool, which is quite rare in New York.

In a nutshell

  • There are some truly beautiful spaces in the hotel and in the guest rooms.
  • Treat yourself to a relaxing moment in the pool.
  • I absolutely love the courtyard, which welcomes you with its peaceful atmosphere, nestled in lush greenery.

Dining: Tamarind

Skip your hotel’s restaurant and head to Tamarind, a New York institution for Indian cuisine. Although the restaurant is very large, it has managed to create intimate spaces perfect for romantic evenings. Discover the vegetarian specialties that have made the restaurant famous, and treat yourself to a naan with mushrooms and truffle oil!

Shopping
Whether you have kids or not, you'll fall in love with this store Playing Mantis which offers handmade toys and other items. And if you're looking for men's clothing made in the USA, stop by the store Grown & Sewn.

Out for a walk
Take a leisurely stroll through Manhattan's countless streets. While you're in the neighborhood, head to 7 World Trade Center to admire the famous red balloons known as Balloon Flower by artist Jeff Koons.

Zen
We can’t help but fall in love with the massages and treatments at the Shibui Spa—especially the Five Elements massage. We come out feeling completely rejuvenated and take a quick dip in the pool before heading back out into the hustle and bustle of the city.
