The Cadoles, of which there are three, are located in Iguerande, in Saône-et-Loire, far from the rest of the world. So far from the rest of the world, in fact, that you might have trouble finding them if you arrive at night. Located precisely at the Colline du Colombier, the Cadoles of the brothers Troisgros invite you to enjoy a delightful, relaxing break.

Designed by architect Patrick Bouchain, the Cadoles were conceived as contemporary vacation rentals, built as a single structure using natural materials. Each cottage, painted a different color, can accommodate a couple: the first cadole appears to be suspended in mid-air; the second, set on a terrace, is flanked by two century-old oak trees; and the third features its own small garden, sheltered by an apple tree.

Your cadole is a small cottage featuring a cozy bed—where you’ll love to stretch out and feel safe—a small adjoining bathroom with a shower, and a large room with a small open kitchenette. The main room opens onto the terrace through huge windows that let in plenty of light.

After a day spent on the terrace and a lovely romantic dinner—prepared while enjoying the view of the surrounding countryside—let yourself drift off into a peaceful sleep: two small porthole-style windows frame the bed; you can cover them or simply let the starlight stream in. When you wake up, you’ll find a small bag on your terrace containing your breakfast: bread, cake, pastries… you’ll start the day off right. An added bonus of the cadoles: the refrigerator is stocked with fruit juices, butter, yogurt, milk… and you’ll also have access to a Nespresso machine, tea, and seasonings to use for your meals throughout the day.

In a nutshell

  • Just like home—but even better.
  • Surrounded by nature in an incredible room.
  • We love having breakfast delivered to your patio in the morning.

Dining: Le Grand Couvert

Once you've settled into your cadole, you'll probably find it very hard to get back in the car. You can then enjoy the warm welcome and friendly service at the restaurant Le Grand Couvert, one of the Troisgros restaurants. Discover the spacious dining room and its magnificent fireplace, which will keep you warm in the winter, and let yourself be swept away by a delicious menu. You may also prefer to go grocery shopping and cook in your own kitchen so you can enjoy the meal at 200%.

With the kids

Even though the cadoles are designed more for a couple’s getaway, we love the idea of staying there as a family. An extra bed can be set up in the living room. It feels like living like the Robinsons (the luxury version), cut off from the world, and you can plan to play board games on the terrace or by the wood-burning stove.

Inspiration

Shopping
You can't spend time in the cadoles without coming home with some hazelnut, pine nut, or walnut oil. Stop by the little Leblanc oil shop (www.huile-leblanc.com) located in Iguerande, and treat yourself to some delicious products.

Out for a walk
If you’re brave enough to leave your patio, ask the front desk for recommendations on where to go for a walk. The region is beautiful, and there are many small villages to explore.

Zen
You’ll undoubtedly feel completely at peace when you leave your cadole after your stay. The best thing to do is to completely disconnect from the world by turning off your phone and spending your time reading a good novel.

In the suitcase
A good book or a sketchbook if you like to draw or paint with watercolors, a sweater for sitting out on the terrace in winter, binoculars for birdwatching, and a cookbook if you’re thinking of whipping up some delicious meals in your cadole.
