From Versailles to the salt marshes of Guérande, via the castles of the Loire Valley, the climates of Burgundy and the beaches of the Côte d’Opale, here are seven houses where you can stay for a weekend: for the table, for the forest, and always for a spa that alone justifies the trip. Some are an hour from Paris, others three; all are worth lingering at.
In the land of the Loire Valley châteaux
Les Sources de Cheverny, the best hotel in the Loire Valley near the castles
Between Chambord and Chenonceau, 2 hours from Paris, Les Sources de Cheverny easily holds its own as the best Hotel in the Loire Valley for those who want to sleep very close to the Loire châteaux. Alice and Jérôme Tourbier, to whom we already owe Les Sources de Caudalie near Bordeaux, have created around the Château du Breuil (18th century) a hamlet of houses and cabins: 49 rooms spread across the Grange aux Abeilles, the Maison des Fleurs, and the Hameau du Marais, designed by the be-pôles studio. This five-star hotel already boasts two Michelin Keys. The room whispered about by lovers is the Baron Perché, perched on massive wooden stilts above the lake lined with gorse.
At the table, Chef Pierre Frindel at Le Favori offers Michelin-starred cuisine inspired by the Sologne forest and the garden. The Auberge offers a country brasserie experience, and the wine bar in the former chai features Loire Valley vintages, including Cour-Cheverny made from the Romorantin grape grown on the estate.
The Caudalie Spa is housed in a timber-framed structure at the edge of the trees. Beneath the beams, there is a relaxation pool and a hammam; outside, there is a hot tub made of oak filled with warm thermal water, and sun loungers facing the forest. The treatments feature the house's own vinotherapy: antioxidant grape seeds, a personalized Signature massage adjusted to the body's needs, and hydrodermabrasion for the face. You leave this spa hotel near Paris shoulders slumped, ready to mount one of the house's bikes to head to the village of Cheverny.

Loire Valley Lodges, the digital detox hotel nestled in the forest
21 wooden lodges, perched four meters above the ground in 300 hectares of private forest south of Tours, each entrusted to a contemporary artist: JonOne the graffiti artist, CharlÉlie Couture, Aurèle and his Lost Dog. Less than 2 hours from Paris, this is the address for green weekends, the one you keep for when the city becomes unbearable and you're looking for a nature hotel designed for disconnection.
Anne-Caroline Frey has placed reconnecting with nature at the heart of the project: floor-to-ceiling windows at canopy height, lodges facing the trees, and the birdsong as an alarm clock. It's one of the first places mentioned for a digital detox stay within a short distance of Paris.
Chef Thomas Besnault, recognized by the Michelin Guide, presents a foraging-focused cuisine at the restaurant Ardent: wild plants gathered from the estate, permaculture garden vegetables, products from the neighboring organic farm, all cooked over a wood fire. In the summer, the outdoor counter Asperatus offers grilled dishes at the edge of the forest.
Well-being here isn't found in cabanas, but in the forest itself: massages with house oils performed in the lodge or on its terrace, forest bathing, and forest therapy to relearn how to breathe. What remains is a 20-meter swimming pool lined with sculptures and, as night falls, silence: a luxury few hotels with spas near Paris can offer.

In Burgundy's wine region
Les Sources de Vougeot, the new best spa hotel in Burgundy
Opening in 2026 in the Château de Gilly, the former residence of the Cistercian Abbots built in the 14th century, Les Sources de Vougeot is already shaping up to be one of the best Spa hotels in Burgundy. The Tourbiers, once again, are extending their wine collection a stone's throw from the mythical Clos de Vougeot, between Dijon and Beaune, among the UNESCO-listed terroirs of the Côte de Nuits.
49 rooms and suites feature original stone, terracotta tiles, and woodwork; La Vigne Rose suite, 105 square meters, retains a coffered ceiling listed as a historical monument and a herringbone parquet floor, while Le Moulin, a private pavilion set on the Vouge river, keeps its Nordic bath exclusively for itself.
We're dining at Clos de la Tour., Gourmet table, or at the Auberge des Cîteaux for a simpler Boeuf Bourguignon, and the Bar du Château handles the late hours.
But the most beautiful scene unfolds underground. The Caudalie Spa has set up its home in a 14th-century cellar, where Cistercian monks used to store wine: beneath the stone vaults, two pools face each other, one for relaxation, with a bubble bench and a swan neck, the other for swimming, complemented by a sauna and treatment rooms. The house's vinotherapy reigns supreme, with antioxidant grape seeds and a Vinotherapist massage using the signature balm, making it, without a doubt, the best spa hotel in Burgundy for those who like to combine wine and well-being.

Facing the Atlantic
Le Royal La Baule, the best hotel in La Baule and its thalassotherapy center
Facing the Atlantic, set on one of Europe's longest beaches, Le Royal has reigned over the Baulois waterfront since the era of seaside resorts. For many, it's simply the best. Spa hotel in La Baule A five-star hotel located 150 meters from the beach, three hours by train from Paris. Its 87 rooms and suites, redesigned by Chantal Peyrat, feature the beiges and blues of the salt marshes and the salt crystals of Guérande.
We have lunch with our feet almost in the sand at Le Ponton, rediscover bistro classics at Le Fouquet's, and extend the evening to the sound of the piano at the Bar du Royal; and we can even go as far as the Michelin-starred table of the neighboring Castel Marie-Louise, within the same resort.
But in La Baule, well-being is an institution, and Le Royal holds the scepter. Connected to the hotel, the recently renovated Thalasso & Spa Barrière boasts heated seawater pools, a marine circuit, sauna, and steam room. It now houses ORA The Longevity Bay, a longevity center where classic thalassotherapy, remineralizing baths, and jet showers meet the mother waters of Guérande, a floatation pool, whole-body cryotherapy, and even a hyperbaric chamber. The signature Vital'Mer wrap, seaweed and marine clay under an infrared dome, summarizes the spirit of the place: iodine as a remedy.

On the Opal Coast
The Westminster, Touquet's Art Deco seaside jewel
Pink brick facade and Art Deco lines, a stone's throw from Le Touquet beach: The Westminster has stood the test of time, looking as good as new. Interior designer Bruno Borrione has taken over the Barrière establishment, preserving its Art Deco spirit, with 104 rooms and suites facing the Parc des Pins, the town, or the lighthouse, in the beiges and blues of the Opal Coast.
At the Bar du West, one orders a cocktail made with at least one local product and sits where Sean Connery allegedly signed his first contract to play James Bond: the anecdote is worth a drink. On the plate side, Chef William Elliott orchestrates two registers: the gastronomic restaurant Pavillon, a Michelin-starred establishment, and the revisited French brasserie, La Table du West.
The Shiseido Spa extends into the basement: a heated indoor pool, sauna, steam room, fitness room, and treatment rooms where the Japanese brand offers its face and body protocols. Perfect for following up a morning of sand yachting on the beach with an afternoon with your eyes closed, for a spa weekend less than three hours from Paris.

At the gates of Paris
Le Domaine de Primard: Chic Countryside on the Banks of the Eure
An hour from Paris, where the Eure river slows among the willows, Catherine Deneuve's former country house has exchanged privacy for a second life as a hotel. This 18th-century Directory-era residence, taken over in 2021 by Les Domaines de Fontenille, Primard offers 39 rooms and suites in the manor house and its outbuildings: powder hues, period paneling, and windows opening onto 40 hectares of parkland.
This park, designed over 30 years ago by Belgian landscape architect Jacques Wirtz, who was also responsible for the Carrousel gardens, has just earned the "Jardin Remarquable" (Remarkable Garden) label. Clipped boxwoods, a rose garden with over 250 varieties, an arboretum, a permaculture vegetable garden, and animals roaming freely along the river: one can stroll here as if in a painting of Giverny, just a few kilometers away.
On the dining side, the establishment has changed its tune: the new address, Ottavio La Tavola, looks to Italy and the great family houses, while Bistrot Martin draws from the vegetable garden and Table d'Hôtes accompanies the estate's vintages.
Well-being is housed in a restored barn called La Maison de l’Orée: 4,800 square feet spread over two levels that hosted, the first in France, Susanne Kaufmann's treatments. Downstairs are a sauna, hammam, and Japanese bath; upstairs are six treatment rooms, including one for couples, a gym, and meditation pontoons set on the banks of the Eure river, where one can lie down and listen to the water. The heated outdoor swimming pool extends the swimming season from April to October. All that's left is to choose a book and a lounge chair: here, time is measured by the passage of swans.
