Hello It's one of those unlikely places when you decide to go on vacation in Tunisia: far from the hustle and bustle of Tunis, the hotel stands in Nefta, a stone's throw from the Sahara. Here, one doesn't seek ostentatious luxury, noisy terraces, and DJ nights: Dar Hi presents itself as an eco-resort designed for all those who wish to escape, facing the desert.

And it's for good reason that Dar Hi simply means "the house." The two owners, Philippe Chapelet and Patrick Elouarghi, entrusted the design of this bubble of tranquility to designer Matali Crasset. Several types of rooms are available: stilt, troglodyte, dune, as well as a riad for a family stay.

We admit a marked preference for the stilted rooms: they all have a superb view of the palm trees and the immensity of the desert. Equipped with very large windows, you can let time slip away while watching the sun rise.

At Dar Hi, meals are a blend of tradition and conviviality. You'll share dinner with other hotel guests at our table d'hôtes, enjoying dishes prepared in the Nefta tradition using local ingredients. And because an eco-retreat goes hand in hand with environmental respect, you can absolutely opt for entirely vegetarian meals. Feeling peckish during the day? The refrigerator awaits: your snacks are included in your reservation.
The Dar Hi Thermal Spa was designed to remain as close as possible to tradition and nature. You will find treatment rooms, a relaxing oil bath, a meditation room, a steam room heated by water from the desert, and a hot thermal water pool. Yoga classes are also offered.
In a nutshell
- An eco-retreat out of this world and out of time.
- Overwater bungalows, troglodyte dwellings, dunes.
- A spa that will make you want to take care of yourself.
Dining:
We like the Dar Hi concept in terms of dining. We sit at tables with other hotel guests and eat in the Nefta palm grove thanks to the El Ferdaous Cafe and you can dip into the kitchen refrigerator as you please. And because the idea is above all to feel at home, you are invited to come and learn how to make couscous! Everything is local so that the culinary journey provides you with a real change of scenery.
With the kids
You can also rent a riad to feel more comfortable. They will surely enjoy this stay very much, as they will feel cut off from the world.
