Located in the Hawke's Bay region, on the North Island of New Zealand, Cape Kidnappers is part of the Relais & Châteaux network and the establishment belongs to the same group as the Kauri Cliffs and the Matakauri. More than just hotels, these lodges present themselves as cocoons in the heart of nature, offering steadfast tranquility and impeccable service.

With a 180° view of the ocean, Cape Kidnappers is a dream come true. The main building features numerous relaxation areas, such as a superb lounge and the dining room.

The suites at Cape Kidnappers are particularly luxurious and comfortable. They are all equipped with high-tech amenities such as an LCD TV, a DVD player, or a CD player with an iPod connection. We especially appreciate the very spacious feel of each room, for a dream stay with breathtaking views. The Owner's Cottage, on the other hand, allows you to discover Cape Kidnappers with family or friends. It has four bedrooms and is ideally located to take advantage of the view.

With an estate spanning over 2000 hectares, Cape Kidnappers has plenty to delight you in terms of walks. You can, for example, tour the property by quad bike, bicycle, horse, or on foot. Trails have also been planned so you can start your day with an invigorating walk. For bird lovers, Cape Kidnappers is home to a huge gannet colony. Of course, many golf enthusiasts appreciate the hotel for its magnificent par-71 course. This golf course is among the best in the world.

For total relaxation, discover the spa. It is located at the top of a hill and offers a view across the valley, towards the sea and Mount Ruapehu. The spa has three treatment rooms where you can choose from the menu of various massages, pedicures, or hair treatments.

The restaurant is one of the many advantages of the location. You can choose to dine in the main dining room, or in your suite or other rooms in the lodge, depending on your desires. Cape Kidnappers has its own vegetable garden, allowing you to enjoy produce from the property, in season. Breakfast is served buffet-style, featuring local products, plenty of fresh fruit, and sweet treats.

In a nutshell

  • An ideal stop if you like secluded and quiet places.

Inspiration

Shopping
The region is full of Farmers’ markets for purchases of local fruits and vegetables, as well as local products. For a souvenir, a gift, or simply if you love honey, you absolutely must go to Havelock North and discover Arataki Honey.

Out for a walk
Among the optional excursions offered, you will find Kiwi Discovery Walk. You will follow a guide who will inform you and tell you all about New Zealand's symbolic bird. A unique way to see this bird, found nowhere else, in real life.

Zen
Whether as a couple or solo, discover the spa treatment menu at Cape Kidnappers. We have a soft spot for the Swedish massage and the mud wrap. Men are not forgotten, with treatments specially designed for them.

In the suitcase
As with every trip to New Zealand, we advise you to take some very high SPF sunscreen, especially in summer (winter in Europe). Pack a more dressed-up outfit for the restaurant and your walking shoes to explore the estate.
