A bed-and-breakfast that's not quite like the others, La Thuilière It’s the perfect place for a long weekend or a week-long vacation in the Périgord. The château is set within a vast park, and you’re sure to enjoy being in the heart of a 19th-century landmark with its own unique history.

XL, L, or S suites let you choose the size of your room, and if you’d like, you can even book the entire hotel. The old blends seamlessly with the new, so you can enjoy a room that’s both comfortable and high-tech. We especially love opening the shutters in the morning to look out onto the park and the chickens pecking around. The rooms are well soundproofed despite the hardwood floors, and the surroundings are very quiet.

The biggest draw of La Thuilière is undoubtedly its warm, welcoming atmosphere. We love spending time in the large living room, but also—and especially—eating outdoors until nightfall. The château also offers a table d’hôtes, and the menu changes every evening. Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs, and we’ll be happy to accommodate you. Everything is done in a calm, relaxed atmosphere, and everyone will do their utmost to meet all your needs. Breakfast is served in the kitchen. While this may surprise some, we love the convivial atmosphere it creates, as everyone gathers around a large table to share the buffet.

La Thuilière Castle charms guests with the freedom it offers everyone to live at their own pace—whether using the pool, lounging in the sun, or enjoying a cup of tea in the living room while browsing the various books provided. An Honesty Bar, which can also be found in hotels Firmdale, invites everyone to help themselves and write down what they’ve eaten on a piece of paper.

In a nutshell

  • A friendly atmosphere at breakfast and dinner.
  • The owners are incredibly kind.
  • A magnificent, vast park.

Le Clos Saint Front Restaurant

Le Clos Saint Front is a well-known spot among food lovers and gourmets in Périgueux. Just a few kilometers from your hotel, this restaurant is well worth a visit without being too expensive. The inner courtyard is particularly delightful in the summer or spring. The owner, who will undoubtedly come out to greet you, is a true lover of fine dining. It’s an unpretentious spot that nonetheless delights the taste buds.

With the kids

The kids will love the huge park where they can run around and have fun. The pool is perfect for a relaxing break in the summer. When we visited, there were also some chickens and a rooster, which the little ones are sure to love.
