Auberge du Soleil, California
July 2, 2017 Pauline

If you're looking for an extraordinary escape, about an hour from San Francisco, you'll love spending a few days in The Inn of the Sun. Originally, it was a Frenchman, Claude Rouas, who created this unique place in 1981. Since then, Auberge du Soleil has become an absolute must-visit spot in the heart of Napa Valley and belongs to the prestigious Relais & Châteaux collection.

You can choose your room or suite, with a garden view or a valley view, but you may prefer the Calais La Plage houses or private houses. The houses have two bedrooms and are ideal for a stay with friends or children. The interiors are, of course, extremely comfortable and wonderfully decorated; we recommend one of the valley-view rooms for your first stay. A fireplace, a bathroom with a large bathtub, a king-size bed... everything is there for a perfectly romantic moment.

Among the many facilities at Auberge du Soleil, there is, of course, a swimming pool, an infinity pool, a fitness center, as well as a spa, a yoga pavilion, tennis courts, and serene picnic spots. The garden is a destination for a stroll in itself, as it features no fewer than 110 sculptures by 65 Californian artists... a true open-air exhibition.

Gastronomy is an important element when staying at Auberge du Soleil, and Chef Robert Curry's restaurant will allow you to enjoy fabulous tasting menus, to be paired, of course, with wines from Napa Valley.

L'Auberge du Soleil offers all-inclusive packages, allowing you to combine a vacation in one of Napa Valley's most iconic hotels with gourmet dining and tasting experiences.

In a nutshell

  • Prefer a place cut off from the world.
  • Association of relaxation, luxury, and gastronomy.
  • You can easily get to San Francisco.

Dining:

Choosing to stay at Auberge du Soleil is above all choosing to disconnect from the world, so we strongly advise you to favor the hotel restaurant. If you do not wish to dine at the gastronomic restaurant, the Bistro & Bar will allow you to choose from small plates to share, daily specials, as well as various traditional dishes. For those with a sweet tooth, the Auberge Chocolate Cake is a must-try.

With the kids

Unfortunately (or perhaps not, depending on your situation), children are not permitted at L’Auberge du Soleil.
