How to Plan Your Trip to Mexico
A trip to Mexico requires careful planning, and there are a few precautions you should take.
A valid passport. First and foremost, make sure your passport is valid for at least six months after your return date. The Entry Requirements for Mexico are fairly straightforward for most French citizens, but even a single expired document can ruin your plans.
An eSIM to stay connected. It has become a standard practice for savvy travelers to avoid exceeding their data plan limits and to have internet access as soon as they land. An eSIM for Mexico ensures a seamless experience, without wasting time at the airport or in town trying to get a local SIM card. This is essential for arranging private transfers and last-minute reservations—or simply for staying in touch.
Appropriate health and travel insurance. Mexico has excellent private clinics in major cities and tourist areas, but if you don’t have the right insurance, the costs can quickly add up. It is therefore advisable to purchase travel insurance that covers medical repatriation and emergency care.
Choose the right season. The peak dry season runs from November to April, depending on the region. Los Cabos and the Riviera Maya are particularly pleasant in winter. Summers there are hotter and more humid, but hotels are often quieter and less expensive.
