1. Le Coucou, the most surprising 5-star hotel in Méribel

Le Coucou is the resort’s brand-new (and second) 5-star hotel, which opened in 2019. This Méribel hotel hugs the slope, stretching across ten floors on the mountainside. The stone and wood facade gives no hint of the interior design, which breaks radically with traditional Alpine styles. Pierre Yovanovitch brings a contemporary and offbeat perspective.  Here, the «déjà vu» gives way to the unusual and the surprising, even in the guest rooms, where the cuckoo bird serves as a recurring theme. The eye is drawn in every direction, and the design leaves no one indifferent.

What sets this place apart is the quality of the service—attentive but not stuffy—and the wide range of amenities.

The resort has the great advantage of featuring two restaurants. The Beefbar, conceived by Riccardo Giraudi, serves not only exceptional cuts of meat but also dishes with a local twist: Tartiflette with ribeye ham, Black Cod with Génépi… In the evening, head across the border to Biancaneve to savor fine Italian cuisine. The «Bar des Pistes» is the go-to spot for après-ski snacks as well as cocktail nights with live music. The spa embraces an eco-chic vibe with the Tata Harper brand and its organic products. Kids aren’t left out, with a Kids Club for ages 4 to 9 (run by Petit VIP, a specialist in this field) and the Teen’s Lab for older teens.

What do we especially like?
The decor designed by Pierre Yovanovitch, which breaks away from the mountain style—which has become all too familiar
The ski room, designed as a boutique lounge with a café area and ski-in/ski-out access.
Exquisitely crafted cocktails to enjoy at concert evenings
Special attention to families: connecting rooms, kids' club, teen area, and special treatments and menus

Efforts to protect the planet: no single-use plastic containers, recycling with Unisoap, a sustainability initiative with Giving Bag…

Where?
In the heart of the 3 Vallées, in the chic and elegant resort of Méribel, where architect Charlotte Perriand once had her chalet. The hotel overlooks the resort, just a stone’s throw from the Rond-Point des pistes, with ski-in/ski-out access. It offers two shuttles for guests, running until midnight to take them into the village.

Good to know? Behind this ambitious 5-star hotel stands the Pariente family: the father, Patrick, former CEO of Naf Naf, and his daughters Leslie and Kimberley. The Pariente family first made a name for themselves in 2013 with L’Apogée in Courchevel (in partnership with Xavier Niel and Oetker Collection), and then in Provence (Hôtel Crillon Le Brave)) and coming soon to Paris. All the properties are designed like private residences with a unique, artistic flair—and are always 5-star.

2. The Hélios Hotel & Spa | An intimate 5-star hotel

The Hélios Hotel, perched on the mountainside, is one of the smallest hotels in the resort. What sets this boutique hotel apart is its absolute tranquility and intimate atmosphere—it has only 18 rooms. When the hotel was built, the owners wanted large rooms, because for them, «luxury means space.» Inside, the decor evokes the Alpine atmosphere. The small spa and its round pool are ideal for après-ski relaxation. The hotel also offers true “ski-in, ski-out” access. Built right on the edge of the slope, you can ski right in and out along the run—though it’s a bit steep for beginners. Note that the hotel also features two restaurants, complete with a lovely sunny terrace.

Good to know: The hotel has been awarded the “Maître Restaurateur” label, a mark of culinary excellence. Local ingredients take center stage in both restaurants—from Savoyard galettes and crozet risotto at lunch to Savoie salmon trout in the evening—and even on the kids’ menu, featuring a raclette burger.

4. Alpen Ruitor Hotel | Like a chalet in Austria

In Méribel Mottaret, the staff at this hotel—which resembles a massive chalet—welcomes us in formal attire, a hallmark of the Fenestraz family (Palace de Courchevel, Les Airelles). With flowers painted on the wood paneling and checkered textiles, the decor evokes the Austrian Alps. The family-home atmosphere is also reflected in the attentive service. The Alpen Ruitor features two restaurants, one of which is entirely dedicated to cheese specialties. The large lounge is one of the hotel’s highlights; children will enjoy the complimentary snacks, served by the fireplace, just like in a chalet. A spa with a hammam, sauna, and jacuzzi rounds out the amenities.

What makes the difference? No need to check the webcams in the morning—you can see the weather and the lift lines right before your eyes.

Situated right in the middle of a ski run, this large chalet is a skier’s paradise. You can get here by snowcat or in moon boots. There’s no stuffy welcome here—Fabrice and his wife will do everything they can to make you feel at home right away. The entire team is dedicated to providing you with the best possible service. There are no TVs in the rooms—everyone is invited to gather in the lounge, around the fireplace, or at the spa (sauna and steam room). You can also opt for one of the three private 80-square-meter lodges. Another highlight of the resort is the dining—here, you can eat non-stop from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. And it’s not just any food! The menu features the finest seasonal ingredients, and Savoie’s local specialties take center stage. At lunchtime, people come from all over Les 3 Vallées for the cream-sauced escalope with homemade fries, served in a large family-style dish.

Good to know: Even though you’re a bit away from Méribel, you’ll have everything you need, thanks to the concierge service: ski rentals (and delivery), taxis, ski instructors, on-site lift tickets…

This may be the most centrally located hotel in Méribel, just about 50 meters from the slopes. Behind its façade—which echoes the village’s architectural style, reminiscent of a large chalet—the interior design draws inspiration from the mountains with pops of vibrant color. In the restaurant, beneath a massive all-wood ceiling, guests can dine at large tables or in more intimate settings for two, enjoying chic bistro cuisine, while the children play in the adjoining library area. A spa with a sauna and steam room, along with a concierge service, round out the hotel’s amenities.
