Between expanses of forest, shimmering ponds, and estates spanning several dozen hectares, the Sologne reveals itself as a refuge of calm and greenery, perfect for leisurely strolls with family or loved ones. Here, nature intertwines with history: just a few kilometers away, the châteaux of the Loire Valley offer a cultural journey into the heart of French heritage.

La Borde in Sologne, Château & Spa

Unveiled at the end of 2022 after a complete renovation, this hotel in Sologne Located not far from Chambord and Cheverny, it has taken its place in a building listed as a historic monument. Built in the mid-18th century in the village of Vernou-en-Sologne, the residence, acquired by Anabelle Ubald-Bocquet and her husband Jean-Marie de Mourgues, is part of a family tradition claimed by the owners and stands at the heart of a park blending English gardens, French gardens, and natural green spaces perfect for strolls. Behind the red brick facade are 35 rooms and suites, each uniquely decorated with a mix of family furniture, antique finds, and artisanal creations.

Throughout the château, period fireplaces, herringbone parquet floors, wood paneling, and exposed beams create a historic, almost princely setting, where elegance has been considered down to the smallest detail. While the Stable Suite has been converted from old horse stalls, the spa has taken up residence in the estate's former orangery. The sauna, steam room, and massage rooms invite a moment of relaxation, in harmony with the tranquility of the property. Two heated swimming pools, one of which is dedicated to children, complete the wellness offerings. Parents can also entrust their children to the Kids Club to fully enjoy this moment of peace. At the dining table, the Mémoire restaurant showcases local produce, from fruits and vegetables from the château's vegetable garden to cheeses from neighboring producers, through a short, seasonal menu.

The Sources of Cheverny

Near the Loire Valley castles, Les Sources de Cheverny has drawn inspiration from the sublime concept of Les Sources de Caudalie, a palace in the vineyards initiated by the same owners: Jérôme and Alice Tourbier. At the heart of this 45-hectare estate, several buildings have been brought together to create a charming hotel with 49 rooms and suites, including one perched on stilts above a mini lake. The 13 keys to the château embody the spirit of a historic family home, while the accommodations scattered throughout the other establishments in the hamlet are more contemporary with sober colors. The dining at Les Sources de Cheverny extends this authentic and heritage-rich ambiance. On one hand, L'Auberge, nestled within stone walls and under a wooden beamed ceiling. On the other, Le Favori, a Michelin-starred gastronomic restaurant under the direction of Chef Pierre Frindel. The ideal day for stay in a castle takes place during a morning stroll, a lunch made of local produce, and a spa afternoon – a relaxing space decorated with recycled wood materials, featuring two swimming pools, a mural by Claire Blaser, and treatments by Caudalie.

The Hayes in Sologne

With a 4-star rating, Les Hayes en Sologne is located on an 180-hectare estate, inviting exploration on foot or by bike, before taking the road for eight kilometers to reach Chambord and Cheverny. Pool, picnics in nature, tennis court, family escape game, stargazing, forest laser game... While the immensity of the place and its numerous activities guarantee a memorable stay, the 19th-century manor house built of tuffeau stone boasts only 19 rooms, offering an absolutely appreciable privacy. Each room has its own identity with choices of ambiance, sometimes bohemian, sometimes princely. At the table, you can savor the cuisine of Chef Cyprien Chapelle, which is convivial and generous. The best part? The barbecue spirit in summer with grilled meats, fish, and smoked vegetables, and braziers warming chestnuts and marshmallows.

Some rooms have the good fortune of overlooking the park, promising a bucolic awakening befitting such a place. After a dip in the outdoor pool and a visit to the sauna, enjoy a round of family mini-golf, a game of tennis, or a workout in the fitness room, before heading to Le Skottowe restaurant. Refined cuisine is served in a wood-paneled dining room featuring a large period painting, or in the château's lounges, which also offer tea time. In the summer, the terrace is the ideal spot for a lunch under the Sologne sun.
