Interview: Anne from Papilles et Pupilles: Cooking, Travel, and Discoveries
May 20, 2016 Camille

We asked ten questions about the trip to Anne from the culinary blog Taste buds and pupils.

This super mom from Bordeaux decided to launch her recipe blog, Papilles et Pupilles, in June 2005 to share her own creations. The origin of all this was her love for her children, who suffered from food allergies, and her desire to satisfy them by offering them delicious meals.

Through her travels, gastronomy is present yet again. Just as it is possible to make many discoveries in cooking by mixing various ingredients, travel also provides them, and this is what Anne tells us.

JR : For you, traveling is synonymous with...?

Of encounters, of gourmet discoveries, of openness to others.

JR : What is the first item you put in your suitcase? Why?

Before packing a single piece of clothing, I put my camera, laptop, Kindle e-reader, iPod, and all the accompanying cables and batteries in my suitcase.

JR : When you travel in dreams, where do you go?

On a planet with no internet :p in the sun, with a turquoise blue sea.

JR : Your worst travel memory?

I didn't like Marrakech. I felt like a walking wallet, a tourist from whom money had to be extracted by any means necessary.

JR : A perfume that invites you to escape?

Vanilla because it reminds me of the South Sea Islands.

JR : What is your next destination?

Singapore

JR : What is your favorite hotel? For what reasons?

The Zilwa Hotel in Mauritius because it's a hotel that has managed to create an atmosphere, tell a story, and where I felt good. The service is attentive but not intrusive, and the view of Coin de Mire is breathtaking.

JR : What do you do to pass the time on a plane?

I watch movies. I never have time to go to the cinema, so I catch up on planes.

JR : What is your best travel memory from when you were a child?

Pompeii! I remember being fascinated by that place and the emotion I felt. I must have been about ten years old, but I can still see it in my mind. I've never been back.

JR : You feel at home when you are...?

In Bordeaux, of course. I love my city, it's a magnificent destination.
