Rest assured right away, Chinese decor doesn't mean overloaded decor. The idea is to go sparingly. So, we carefully choose our lantern(s) to bring life and warmth to our home. We choose them for their bold and vibrant colors, or conversely, for the softness of their pastel hues as well as their subtle patterns. Guaranteed effect!
Interestingly, besides their metal structure, the surface of sky lanterns is biodegradable since the rice paper they are made from disintegrates upon contact with water. However, for safety reasons, some are entirely treated against fire (flame-retardant treatment) to prevent the paper from igniting. Obviously, this treatment makes them less biodegradable, but that much safer!
