The Hameau des Baux, an artistic haunt in the heart of the Alpilles
In Paradou, nestled within a five-hectare olive grove facing the Alpilles mountain range, Le Hameau des Baux cultivates a lifestyle that is both hedonistic and inspiring. A member of the Les Petites Maisons group, this confidential hotel is structured like a small Provençal village with its stone mazets, shaded squares, and singing fountains.
Behind this bucolic setting lies a unique establishment, committed to a true artistic endeavor. Under the direction of curator Constance Breton, the Hameau exhibits some fifty contemporary works, hosts an artists' residency in the fall, and organizes temporary exhibitions throughout the year in collaboration with renowned galleries.
This summer, the program will notably feature an unprecedented series by painter Arsène Welkin, as well as a sound installation by the duo Scénocosme. For your taste buds, chef Julie Chaix – who has worked in the kitchens of Anne-Sophie Pic, Alain Ducasse, and La Bastide de Moustiers, among others – will be offering market-driven bistronomic cuisine at Allegria, served lunch and dinner, as well as a gourmet Sunday brunch.
In contrast, La Petite Guinguette opens in the evening starting May 30th, with its Mediterranean sharing menu, wood-fired grills, and summer music nights.
Please note: the opening of an adults-only lap pool, six new rooms, a seminar space, and festive «art aperitifs» featuring lavender braiding!

Baumanière Les Baux-de-Provence – The spirit of a mythical place, between gastronomic excellence and meditative refuge
Nestled at the foot of the listed village of Les Baux-de-Provence, within a natural amphitheater of garrigue and ancient olive trees, this Hôtel Spa des Alpilles est imposed as a living myth. Founded in 1945 by Raymond Thuilier, the spiritual grandfather of modern gastronomy, this establishment Relais & Châteaux It has seen crowned heads, presidents, artists, Michelin-starred chefs, intellectuals, and travelers from all over the world pass through, drawn by the unique balance it offers between refinement and nature. Today, the domain extends over nearly 20 hectares and brings together five historic buildings—L'Oustau, Le Manoir, Flora, Carita, and la Maison de Famille—which house 53 rooms and suites. All are decorated with understated elegance, blending antique materials, contemporary furniture, artworks, noble fabrics, and breathtaking views of the Alpilles, curated by Geneviève Charial herself.
The three-Michelin-starred table at L'Oustau de Baumanière, led by chef Glenn Viel since 2015, is the beating heart of the establishment. He embodies a creative, powerful, signature cuisine, deeply rooted in respect for ingredients and the seasons. His creations, inspired by local flora and Provençal traditions, are served in a bright dining room or on the shaded terrace, overlooking the cliff face of Val d'Enfer. The biodynamic vegetable garden, the beehives, and slow cooking methods using wood fire or in the earth are hallmarks of a responsible and sensory approach. In addition, La Cabro d'Or, headed by chef Michel Hulin, the estate's second restaurant, offers a more accessible yet always refined menu, set in a bucolic atmosphere amidst the gardens.
Baumanière also reveals a lifestyle focused on well-being: a 500 m² spa by Sisley, three outdoor swimming pools, personalized treatments, meditation areas, and attention to the smallest detail, from ambient fragrances to embroidered linens. Here, hospitality is a matter of transmission and consistency, where the soul of the place combines with discreet modernity.
In short? Staying at Baumanière means experiencing a magnified Provence, where luxury is never imposed but felt in every moment.

Domaine de Manville – A contemporary vision of rural luxury in the heart of the Alpilles
At the entrance to the village of Les Baux-de-Provence, nestled in a protected valley at the foot of limestone cliffs, Domaine de Manville embodies a new generation of luxury hospitality, one that is both rooted in the land and committed to an eco-responsible art de vivre. Formerly an agricultural estate dedicated to livestock and vine cultivation, this family property has been transformed into a vast 5-star complex, brilliantly combining heritage, modern comfort, architectural aesthetics, and environmental respect. The heart of the estate houses a sophisticated hotel with 30 generously proportioned rooms and suites, decorated in a mineral palette inspired by the Alpilles mountains, using natural materials – driftwood, linen, natural stone – and refined yet warm furnishings. Surrounding the hotel, nine private villas with pools, gardens, and meticulous hotel service offer an intimate experience of the estate.
Manville doesn't just aim to be beautiful; it also stands out as a pioneer in sustainable hospitality. The 18-hole golf course, perfectly integrated into the landscape, serves as a flagship for ecological practices, requiring no intensive irrigation or chemicals, thus preserving local flora and fauna. This environmental consciousness permeates every aspect of the estate's operations: rainwater harvesting, selective waste sorting, short supply chains, and even an organic vegetable garden that partially supplies the kitchens.
When it comes to gastronomy, precisely, Michelin-starred restaurant Michelin-starred L'Aupiho stands out with its signature cuisine by Lieven van Aken, a Belgian chef with a demanding background, having worked at Pascal Devalkeneer and L'Arnsbourg. Here, he creates subtle, vegetable-focused dishes where textures and flavors harmonize. The estate's more convivial bistro, on the other hand, celebrates a gourmet and generous Provence, with slow-cooked dishes, roasted vegetables, and homemade desserts.
At the heart of the Manville experience, well-being is expressed through the 500 m² spa, personalized treatments, a hammam, a jacuzzi, and a heated indoor swimming pool with bay windows overlooking the landscaped courtyard. A private cinema room favored by Jean Reno, an outdoor fitness trail, guided walks, cooking workshops, and golf introductions complete the range of activities.
What we like: The discreet yet attentive welcome, catering to families seeking informal elegance, couples wanting a peaceful getaway, and also athletes.
In short? Domaine de Manville thus succeeds in embodying a contemporary, gentle, refined Provence, which has nothing to envy from the greatest international resorts while asserting a strong, local identity.

Mas de l’Oulivié – A garden hotel on the edge of Baux-de-Provence, between ecology and Provençal elegance
Just two kilometers from the hilltop village of Les Baux-de-Provence, on the winding road through the Alpilles, the Mas de l’Oulivié unfolds its discreet charm in the heart of an exceptional setting. This family-run 4-star hotel, certified as a “Regional Natural Park Values” establishment, combines authenticity, refinement, and ecological commitment without ever sacrificing comfort. Housed within the walls of a typical regional light-stone building, the establishment features 25 rooms and suites carefully decorated in a contemporary Provençal style, blending old terracotta tiles, headboards upholstered in printed fabrics, distressed furniture, and tastefully curated vintage items. Some rooms open onto private tree-lined terraces, others overlook olive groves, cypress trees, or the Mediterranean-inspired garden. The atmosphere is designed to be soothing, almost intimate, conducive to rejuvenation.
But it is undoubtedly outside that the Mas reveals its true uniqueness. Its landscaped park, classified as an LPO (League for the Protection of Birds) refuge, embodies an ode to local biodiversity: 120 varieties of Mediterranean plants have been recorded there, including lavender, euphorbia, cistus, and rosemary, planted in shaded or sunny areas according to the requirements of each species. A lagoon-like swimming pool, bordered by rocks, blends into this natural setting with rare fluidity, as if it had always been there. Nearby, there is a wooden cabin dedicated to wellness treatments, where massages are provided with organic oils from local producers. Breakfast, served under the pergola or on the terrace, features artisanal jams, honey from the Alpilles, seeded bread from the neighboring bakery, fresh fruit, and freshly squeezed juices.
Le Mas de l’Oulivié does not have a gourmet restaurant strictly speaking, but it does offer a short, carefully curated menu of daily specials, savory tarts, hearty salads, and homemade desserts, often made with products from the Baux Valley. During high season, picnics or appetizer platters are also served by the pool.
As for activities? The warm team is happy to advise on local excursions: the Val d’Enfer discovery trail, a hike up to the Baux fortress, the Maussane farmers' market, or a visit to olive oil mills: it is precisely this combination of attentive service, an enchanting setting, and a genuine respect for the environment that makes the Mas de l’Oulivié a rare refuge, far from ostentatious luxury but close to what truly matters!
